We are in the process of looking into setting up a business in India. My partner is originally from there but now on a PIO. I will be getting a PIO on my British Passport. Can we work and live in India on PIO cards? Personal experiences would be great if you have any examples!

YES you can but there are certain areas of India where you will NOT be permitted to work - I think Jammu & kashmir may be one of them, and you possibly may not be able to take a government job either. http://www.immihelp.com/nri/piocard/advantages-restrictions.html
