All I can say is as an international student you will have to pay tuition just like anyother country charges for international students ( fees, housing and other miscellaneous). Because India is a poor country we dont have high expectations from the rich countries, in fact we go out of our way to make their stay comfortable, and pleasurable. Its considered a honour to have a guest come home, thats India's culture, thats the country I was born, and will return to eventually.

In the North, it seems, you have a given name followed by a surname, which may well have some caste relation (so Mohandas Ghandi came from a family that were originally grocers). In the South, there are no surnames, and the given name is preceded by one or two other names, which may be initialised, relating to father and place of origin, so K.V. Sanjeev is Sanjeev, son of Vidvan from Kokradi. Is this right? Where does north become south? When are initials used as opposed to full names? And is it true that some people in the North no longer use caste-related surnames?

hi friends, iam planning to buy Sony 7" Portable DVD Player - Black (DVPFX730) in US to take it to india.will it work there?and what about the DVDs we get in india,can i play those dvds in this player?time is short and i cant do much of research on this.thats why seeking your help.please help me.

Just wondering if you are now working or ever worked in India. How many hours do you typically spend in your office on a normal day. Please also wirte type of work you do or did ? I remember when I was india, I worked around 9 hours a day and 5 days a week in a IT company.

i work 10 hours and 6 days a weak..in telecommunication field...

it depend on the work and responsibility , being a fashion and apparel manufacturing merchandiser, my office time is morning 8.30 to 4.30 or 9.30 to 5.30 -depends on u, saturday and sunday off ,., but believe me ,. i go to office by 7.45 to 8AM morning , and get out by 7PM in the evening or even some times by 8 :-( the BAD thing is , since manufacturing unit(factories) will be working in Saturdays i will also come to office unofficially ( since the responsibilities are mine i don't have any other go ), at shipment times sometimes units will be running even on Sundays , but he worst part is yet to come Am not paid for the wk ends or OT:-( this is the lifestyle of every apparel and fashion manufacturing merchandiser in India ( Even in the world i think )

Will the United States GameCube work in India
Will the United States GameCube work in India?
I have an Nintendo GameCube, which I am planning to give away to someone in India. I was wondering if it will work there. I have heard something about NSTC and PAL, and it isn't compatible. I am also thinking about giving away the original XBOX 360 and the Nintendo Wii.

Is it possible to make NTSC TV work in India by following method?
In India TVs work on PAL. Is it possible to use US’s NTSC TVs in India by following method? I am thinking we can convert the Indian PAL signals into standard Audio-Video signal using VCR and provide that AV as input to the NTSC TVs, because all latest TVs have AV input. Is this possible, please advise.

Depends on the VCR You need a multi-standard VCR that can take PAL and output NTSC. If it is a PAL VCR, it is not going to help. NTSC applies to ALL Video signals - tuner, component, composite, and S-video

I plan to buy an CD TV in the US and some time later take it back to India. Will cable tv available in India work on this TV. I am not aware of any format wars that should prevent it but my friends have urged me to exercise caution. If the above is true, any idea which brand will be region agnostic.

I believe you can change the language settings on your Xbox. However, I do not think the games you bought in India would work on a German Xbox due to regional coding restrictions. It's frustrating, I know, especially for people who have to relocate to totally different continents. I am not entirely sure where India gets its games from, but from personal experience, I cannot play NTSC-J games on a NTSC-UC system (this was with a PS2, probably the same concept) and vice versa. If India gets its games from Europe, chances are they might work. If not, then I do not think so. You might want to check out the regional code on your game and research more about the European Xbox. I think the only system that doesn't have regional coding restrictions is the Nintendo DS.

Hi, am planning to buy a bose 5.1 home theatre system here in US, however am planning to relocate to India withing 6-7 months. I understand that the system will nto work in India as such-because will need a step down from a 220 v, plus the dvd will have a region lock in. However also have come to know that if the system is more than one year old- then possibly bose in India reworks your system to make it work there. Just wanted to confirm if someone has either availed this facility or has somehow made her/his system work on its own? Thanks.

Would the eyeglass frame from India work in America
Would the eyeglass frame from India work in America?
I recently bought a pair of eyeglasses frame from India but I live in America. If I take the frame to my eye doctor in America, would they put my prescription in the frame and would they work here? right now, the glasses have no prescription. i just bought the frame itself.

It then uses those measurements to cut the lenses with your prescription that fit the eyeglasses from India, or from anywhere, I would think.

No. DVDs are made to work in different parts of the world. The US is region 1 where as India is region 5. You DVD player is a region 1 so it can only play region 1 discs. There is one way to get around it though. In several on-line forums you can learn hacks that you can do to your player to make it region free. Then you can play it on your player. Also a computers region code can be changed to play multi-region discs. Be careful though. The region on your computer can only be changed 5 times. So choose wisely.

Otherwise, if you have a Chinatown or Japantown near you, go to a video store there, and they sell region-free players for $40 or so. I bought a player from Oppo Digital (oppodigital.com) which has gotten great reviews as an upscaling DVD player, and is also easily made to be region-free by entering a simple code into the remote.

Does unlocked mobile phone bought in india work in US?
I am planning to buy a samsung galaxy s mobile phone in India. Will the same work in US. Are there good data plans offered by carriers for unlocked phones ? What would be my options ? Please help. I already have an unlocked mobile phone and I am not looking to unlock. What I wanted to know is whether with the unlocked phone I have, will I get good data plans. Or will I be forced to take a data plan which will have a phone bundled.

I will suggest the website Unlock-Zone.com which is doing good service and they were recommended highly in the cell phone forums. I used them to unlock my cell phone. contacted them and within 30 mins i had my unlock code and my phone was unlocked. Hope this helps.
